I’m excited to share an important new chapter.
After many years working alongside the MHQ team, I have made the decision to merge my business with MHQ and formally join the business as a Company Director and Head of Advice for Insurance and KiwiSaver.
For me, this move feels both exciting and natural.
My relationship with MHQ goes back to 2020, when I founded wealthhq. At that time, wealthhq worked closely alongside MHQ as a sister company, with the goal of helping clients access advice beyond lending alone. Since then, wealthhq and MHQ have separated and no longer have any commercial connection.
This move marks a fresh chapter.
It also signals something bigger for MHQ.
Historically, MHQ has been known as an award-winning mortgage advice business, helping clients with lending, property decisions and long-term mortgage strategy. That remains a core part of who MHQ is.
However, we also know that financial advice should not stop at the mortgage.
A client’s financial life is connected. Their mortgage, insurance, KiwiSaver, investments, income, family protection, retirement plans and long-term goals all influence each other. Better outcomes are created when advice is joined up, easier to access and more proactive.
That is why this move matters.
By bringing insurance advice, KiwiSaver advice, managed funds, wealth-building tools and lending advice together under one brand, MHQ is taking an important step towards becoming a more holistic financial advice business.
The goal is simple: to make quality financial advice easier to access, more common, and more relevant across the areas that can have a meaningful impact on people’s lives.
For existing clients, this is a positive move.
Their current insurance cover does not change. Their policies remain in place, their insurer remains the same, and their protection is not impacted by this transition.
What does change is the support around them.
Clients will now have access to a broader advice team, stronger systems, greater resources and a more coordinated advice experience. Over time, this should help improve communication, speed up turnaround times and create a more proactive service model.
It also means clients can have more connected conversations about their financial future, including:
- Protecting their family and income through appropriate insurance advice
- Making sure their KiwiSaver is aligned with their goals and timeframes
- Exploring managed funds and investment options outside KiwiSaver
- Building wealth through property and lending strategy
- Reviewing their wider financial position as life changes
This is the type of advice environment I believe more New Zealanders should have access to.
Too often, people receive advice in isolated areas. They speak to one person about their mortgage, someone else about their insurance, another provider about KiwiSaver, and often no one about how it all fits together.
At MHQ, we want to change that.
We want clients to feel supported not just at one transaction point, but across their broader financial journey. Whether someone is buying their first home, protecting their family, reviewing their KiwiSaver, building wealth, investing for the future or planning ahead, they should be able to access clear and practical advice from people who understand the bigger picture.
That is what this move is about.
It is about building a better, more responsive and more proactive financial advice firm.
It is about giving clients access to more people, more expertise and more support under a brand they already know and trust.
Most importantly, it is about helping clients make better financial decisions over time.
I’m incredibly excited about this next stage for MHQ and what it means for our clients.
This is a positive step forward – and just the beginning of what we are building.
