What Is the NZ Adviser Top Advisers Ranking?
The NZ Adviser Top Advisers ranking recognises mortgage advisers who have demonstrated significant residential lending performance during the qualifying period.
For the 2026 ranking, advisers needed to settle at least $50 million in verified residential lending between 1 March 2025 and 28 February 2026. The submitted figures were verified through the advisers’ aggregators before being included in the final ranking.
A total of 147 mortgage advisers qualified for the 2026 list.
Zhiyang Cheng Ranked #6 in New Zealand
A special congratulations goes to Zhiyang Cheng, who ranked sixth nationally in the 2026 Top Advisers list.
Being recognised among the top six mortgage advisers in New Zealand is an outstanding result and demonstrates the level of expertise and lending experience within the MHQ team.
Zhiyang's result also places MHQ among the leading mortgage advice businesses represented in the ranking.

A Growing Role for Mortgage Advisers in New Zealand
The recognition comes at a time when mortgage advisers are playing an increasingly important role in the New Zealand property market.
According to the NZ Adviser report, mortgage advisers now account for around 60% of all new home loans in New Zealand.
The number of advisers qualifying for the Top Advisers list has also increased over recent years, from 63 advisers in 2024, to 94 in 2025, and 147 in 2026.
This reflects the growing role mortgage advisers play in helping Kiwis navigate an increasingly complex lending environment.
